The Right Volunteer Opportunities for You
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us! We are looking forward to our 41st Annual Autumn Escape Bike Trek from September 26-28, 2025. This event would not be possible without our dedicated volunteers. Listed below are the volunteer task descriptions, frequently asked questions, and additional resources.
Have questions or need more information?
Please contact Judy Deane: Judy.Deane@lung.org or 413-505-5061.
When volunteering at a rest stop, you will support in the setup, service, and take down of the rest stop for the weekend. This includes set up and placement of tables, food and beverages, assistance with safety of entrance and exit locations, supporting and cheering on riders, as well as clean up and takedown of the rest stop at the end of each day.
Please check in at Camp Burgess and then you can drive directly to your assigned rest stop location on your first scheduled day of volunteering.
Route marshal volunteers will be assigned to monitor an intersection along the Trek route to provide directional guidance to cyclists (turn or continue straight) and to remind them to stop or yield (following all traffic laws). You are ONLY to interact with cyclist traffic; you will NOT be directing vehicular traffic.
You will report to Camp Burgess on the first day of your assignment. Our volunteer director will provide your safety vest and signs for your assignment.
SAG drivers will drive and monitor a specific section of the Trek route each day.
SAG vehicles will be equipped with a bike rack to transport cyclists and their bike forward to the next rest stop for mechanical or medical assistance as needed.
Setup/breakdown volunteers are essential in the smooth-running of the event. Please provide your available hours when you register and we will assign as needed.

All volunteers receive an event t-shirt. Lunch is provided each day for volunteers. Housing is available for those that are volunteering more than one day. Please note that transportation is not provided for volunteers.
Fundraising is not a requirement to volunteer. However, we encourage all volunteers to raise money toward our mission and earn great incentives while doing so.
Please check in with Judy Deane at Camp Burgess (75 Stowe Rd., Sandwich, MA) each day you are assigned. Volunteer Check-in will be clearly marked and will be available each day of the ride.
We welcome all ages and often have families volunteer together! Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian volunteering with them.
