Reach the Beach WA is one of the American Lung Association’s signature fundraising events. Your participation will raise the funds necessary to help provide life-saving lung health education, research and advocacy efforts.

Reach the Beach WA is a multi-day cycling event. Day 1 offers a single starting location for the Thurston Loop, with a 68-mile or 45-mile loop option. Day 2 features four starting locations: Lacey, Olympia, Elma, and Aberdeen, culminating with a finish line celebration in Westport. Participants will enjoy activities, entertainment, and food at each stop, creating a full and engaging experience throughout the ride.

Both days are fully supported, including rest stops, meals, baggage transfer, support vehicles, mechanical support and optional transportation back to start line.

Aberdeen: Miller Jr. High, 100 East Lindstrom, Aberdeen, WA 98520

The Reach the Beach WA route spans 168 miles for riders tackling both days in the exciting new two-day format for 2025! Riders can choose to participate in Saturday’s metric century or Sunday’s Signature Reach the Beach route, which offers **100, 77, 44, and 24-mile options** to accommodate cyclists of all levels. Whether you ride one day or both, the expanded format promises an unforgettable experience!

You can register online by choosing Register and specifying your participation type. Then follow the prompts to complete your registration. Please feel free to reach out to event manager Guillermo Madera with any questions.

Yes! The American Lung Association permits electric bicycles to be ridden during the Reach the Beach WA event by participants aged 18 and older.

Keep in mind that you are responsible for charging your e-bike and know beforehand how many miles one charge equals. We cannot guarantee our mechanics will be able to assist with repairs. Additionally, due to the weight, we cannot guarantee that our SAG vehicles will be able to transport disabled e-bikes. We will do our best to assist you.

All cyclists (riding a permitted bicycle of any kind) on the Reach the Beach WA route are required to follow the rules of the road and any dangerous or questionable riding behavior will be addressed by ride safety officials and can result in being removed from the route.

Yes, there is a fundraising minimum of $250 per person, which helps support our mission to save lives and improve lung health. Participants have until event day to meet this goal, and upon reaching the fundraising minimum, you'll qualify to receive your bib number and event shirt as a thank-you for your commitment! If the minimum has not been met by event week, participants can complete their donation at the packet pick-up to join in the ride.

No, the registration fee does not apply towards the fundraising minimum. Please contact Guillermo Madera if you would like to brainstorm fundraising ideas.

A team captain gathers together friends, family and co-workers. Each team captain helps guide their team members, from online registration, to setting and achieving their fundraising goal, to seeing them through to the finish line.   • Ideally, a team consists of a captain and a three or more additional team members.
  • Teams can be classified as Corporate (meaning that they are representing a company or organization), Community, or Friends and Family.

No, the registration fees and fundraising minimum are per individual. There are no additional fees for creating a team. Teams can also qualify for additional incentives and fun prizes.

  • Teams provide a way for groups to get involved with the American Lung Association to raise funds and awareness of healthy lungs and air.
  • Teams allow organizations to show their philanthropic spirit.
  • A team provides great motivation to reach a personal fitness goal while enjoying time with others.

Yes! We have several tools available to help team captains: from creating a team page, to helping additional team members register to join the event, and to ensuring your team fundraising goal is met.

  • Emails: The participant dashboard has email templates to assist you with team member recruitment and fundraising.
  • Internal kick-offs and informational meetings: We're happy to work with you to have a memorable team kick-off to get your team all fired up!
